Surakarta, November 7, 2025 – The Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMS), held a Public Lecture for new and current semester students. The event, held offline in Meeting Room B2 of the UMS Edutorium, featured two competent speakers: Dr. Nining Setyaningsih, M.Sc., a lecturer in the Mathematics Education Study Program, as the first speaker, and Mr. Apriyanto Nugroho, S.Pd., M.Pd., an alumnus of the study program and the Principal of Al Azhar IIBS Karanganyar.
In front of all participants, the first speaker presented material on how to find one’s identity as a professional educator so that they can become impactful Mathematics Education graduates. The second speaker focused on inspiring teachers as role models for change and drivers of innovation in schools. Participants appeared enthusiastic throughout the event, as evidenced by the numerous responses and questions posed to the two speakers at the end of the session.
This public lecture is expected to motivate students to learn, broaden their knowledge and understanding of the Mathematics Education Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, UMS, and strengthen their choices and identity in pursuing their studies in the Mathematics Education Study Program.
